Common Signs Your A/C Needs Repair:

Frozen Coil

A frozen coil means a problem with the system’s airflow and even restrictions that are caused by return air ductwork or dirty air filters. Another cause is Low Refrigerant.

Low Refrigerant

Refrigerant is the chemical that cools the air within your A/C system. Low refrigerant levels could suggest a leak in the system. For example, 90% of the time a refrigerant recharge means there is definitely a leak.

Wires Are Bad

A/C wiring must be installed correctly and safely. Bad wiring can cause the circuit breaker to trip and can become a fire hazard.

Malfunctioning Outside Fan

The outside fan takes the heat from your home and brings it outside. If it is not working, there won’t be an efficient heat transfer. This can cause the compressor to overheat and the safety overload to trip or, even worse, total damage to the compressor.

Malfunctioning Outside Unit

A broken outside unit can suggest that your system is experiencing issues with power, contactor, or a faulty thermostat.

Humming Noise

A humming noise is indicative of a failed starting component or a locked up motor. Sometimes the motors can be broken loose with start assisting components and other times they need to be replaced. Either way if you hear humming its an electrical issue, and your system is in need of repair.
